ST. LOUIS MICROBREWERY TOUR - PERENNIAL ARTISAN ALES

We are visiting every St. Louis microbrewery to help highlight the variety, quality and fine spaces we have to enjoy a fresh beer in our fair city.

We stopped at Perennial Artisan Ales at 8125 Michigan Avenue in the Patch Neighborhood.

This brewery is a gem. Their space is within a historic building called the Temptor Lofts, a former Coca-Cola syrup plant. Well, actually it started as Temptor Fruits and Product Company and then eventually became the Coke syrup plant. The city website lists it as built in 1920.

I wrote about this project back in 2011, with work starting around 2010.

In addition to Perennial, there are 77 lofts and underground parking.

We’ve been here many times, but notice new things on every visit.

The place seems to evolve in welcoming ways.

The outdoor space has always been great, but it keeps getting better. Ping pong, swings, etc add to the vibe making this a neighborhood place.

The beer offerings are creative, complex and the favorites of many.

There is food available from Sanguchitos by Brasas, offering street tacos and Peruvian street burgers and much more. There is also a small gameroom to get the kids out of your hair for a minute, or to enjoy with friends.

This place makes Carondelet and St. Louis better. It is the best of new uses for a former factory: housing and retail. The Pilsner in my favorite and the folks we were with enjoyed cocktails with the sour brews and a saison.

The bar staff were awesome and kind. The place has plenty of seating to spread out.

Their ginko leaf logo is beautiful and there is plenty of swag to purchase in the tasting room.

There are signs of brewing and aging on site.

This is a great fit for the severe South City neighborhoods of the Patch and Carondelet.

They get great distribution of their canned/bottled offerings so they are easy to find at grocery and liquor stores and neighborhood markets.

Top shelf stuff, another gem of St. Louis.
