Stumbled upon an advertisement for "Stan and Biggie's" restaurant in a 1958 St. Louis Post-Dispatch. I had to find out where this place was and learned a little more about Stan Musial, who lived in a modest ranch in St. Louis Hills. A true legend, a real St. Louis citizen for many years. Go Cards!
Compton-Drew Investigative Learning Center is a middle magnet school within the St. Louis Public School System, serving children grades 6 through 8. The school has been located at 5130 Oakland Avenue in the Kings Oak Neighborhood since 1996.
Most in the region probably recognize the school from its octagonal blond brick and aqua sheet metal construction facing Oakland Avenue directly west of the Science Center and across I-64 from Forest Park.
Kings Oak is a highly visible neighborhood, as it can be seen just south of I-64, across from Forest Park's baseball fields and horse stables; and it's eastern border is visible on the heavily travelled Kingshighway Blvd. Several easily recognizable institutions (St. Louis University High, St. Louis Science Center and Compton Drew Investigative Learning School) anchor the neighborhood.
