Christy Park, according to the city website, is comprised of 16.1 acres of park land, established in 1910. There are no official boundaries listed on that website, so I can only assume that Christy Park and Joseph Leisure Parks are one in the same. There is actually a band of parks that start at Kingshighway and Christy and head south and east toward the River Des Peres, following the Great Rivers Greenway Trail starting near Christy and Holly Hills Boulevards.
As you can see in the map, the neighborhood is mainly on the rectilinear grid south of Fyler. The northwest section of the hood has some winding, bendy roads and the northeast section, north of Fyler that consists of a large series of well manicured lawns and seemingly well maintained apartments called Hampton Gardens...
I guess the fact that Wherry used to be a creek explains the strange angle at which the road diagonally criss-crosses the otherwise perfect recti-linear grid. By the way, you have to respect this street grid...it's not closed off! No dead end streets or Schoemehl pots blocking traffic!
There are many quality, convenient services within SoHa. You have the fully occupied Hampton Village shopping mall at the busy corner of Hampton and Chippewa which includes a quality Schnucks, JC Penney's, shoe store, woman's clothing stores, gym, doctor/dentists offices, chain restaurants, chain barber, and Johnnie Brocks.
