Sure, we like rehabs projects better than new construction, but what are you going to do with empty lots? Infill. And this project takes an awkward vacant lot and proposes a three story mixed use building with twenty one apartments. What a difference this one will make.

Another proposal for a hotel in one of the city's swankiest neighborhoods, the Central West End. A surface parking lot could become $40M seven-floor, 192-room boutique hotel. Bring it on. But don't subsidize it...this one doesn't need it.

Another favorite development of 2017 is the Whistler Apartment building at Victor and 9th Street in Soulard. This one will bring over 120 new units and some much needed residential density in one of the more far away corners of this high-visibility neighborhood. With so many tourists and visitors coming to the Brewery, this will make a nice addition to Broadway vs. the shuttered Victor Iron Works.

Last year, we blogged on our favorite twenty developments announced in 2016. A look back and 45% of them are completed or clearly "under-construction". Not bad. I'll take a look at those projects as well as make a new list of 2017's favorite development announcements.
